The USG Legislative Branch is comprised of the Student Senate, which is charged with the duties of allocating funds and drafting legislation in the form of bills and resolutions. The Student Senate consists of 50 senators who each serve on two committees.
The Student Senate works on researching policies and writing legislation that affects the student body. Legislation is then brought before the floor and voted on by Senate members representing their respective academic colleges.

Senate Meetings occur every Tuesday from 7-10 PM in the Black Box Theater in the Iowa Memorial Union.
