What the Committee Does
The Internal Affairs committee assists in the management of the Student Senate. As the name suggests, the committee focuses largely on ensuring the internal operations of USG run smoothly and in accordance with our governing documents—the Constitution and Bylaws.
One of the committee’s most important initiatives is to fill the remaining seats of the Student Senate each fall by facilitating the Senate Applications process.
Why It Matters
By maintaining transparency, accountability, and smooth operations within USG, the oversight of the Internal Affairs committee helps ensure that the Senate avoids becoming stagnant and can continue to effectively address students’ concerns, advocate on their behalf, and produce initiatives to better their experience.
How to Get Involved
Apply to USG through Senate Applications this fall or run in the USG Election this spring! All USG members—either accepted through Senate Applications or elected—have the opportunity to apply to become a member of the Internal Affairs committee.

The Internal Affairs committee is the smallest in USG with only 7 members!
Cool Projects
The Internal Affairs committee has the unique ability to create positions within USG by writing them into our Bylaws. This past administration, the Internal Affairs committee worked diligently to create the Director of Purchasing role, an executive position tasked with helping student organizations navigate changes concerning their finances.
