Student leaders from Iowa’s three Regent universities gathered at the Iowa State Capitol last week for the annual Board of Regents Joint Day on the Hill, meeting with legislators to share priorities and strengthen relationships that support students across the state.

Throughout the day, students discussed key initiatives and highlighted the impact of Regent universities on Iowa’s communities. The event provided an opportunity to present a unified voice on behalf of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa institutions.

Kartik Kalra, director of governmental relations, said the visit centered on advocating for student priorities — including mental health initiatives — while also building stronger collaboration across Regent universities.

Vice President Emily Cross thanked legislators for taking the time to meet and emphasized that standing together as Regent institutions reinforced their shared mission and strengthened their collective impact at the Capitol.
