The Undergraduate Student Government was grateful to welcome the Iowa City City Council to our annual joint town hall, held on February 10 in the IMU. The event opened with councilor introductions, followed by a student-led Q&A focused on key issues including student and affordable housing, transportation, sustainability, and public safety

Following the discussion, USG hosted a reception that allowed members and councilors to connect one-on-one. We are deeply thankful to our City Liaisons, Ava Martinez and Eden Coy, for their leadership and planning in making the evening a success.

USG City Liaisons Ava Martinez and Eden Coy shared the following reflection:

“We have so much gratitude for our city council and city staff for always being open to speaking with students. That time face to face is not only crucial for keeping the city grounded in student priorities, but it also gives our student representatives more insight into how the city can help further their initiatives.”
