Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

Last week, Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 hurricane made landfall over Texas causing catastrophic flooding and damage in Houston, Galveston, and Corpus Christi. This week we have continued to see the damage expand to areas in Louisiana. Thousands of people have been left without electricity, clean water, and housing. Among those impacted include members of our Hawkeye community.

Let us offer our support through action and solidarity. We encourage the Hawkeye community to support the victims and families of Hurricane Harvey. Below are a few of organizations that accept online monetary donations. Feel free to consider other organizations not listed:

As members of the Hawkeye community, it is imperative that we band together to support those most in need in our community that extends beyond Iowa City, across the nation and into other countries. Such action is consistent with the Serve pillar of the IOWA Challenge.

On behalf of UISG and GPSG, we send our well wishes to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. We will continue to update members of the Hawkeye community on upcoming organized local relief efforts. More information will be added to our websites and social media platforms.
