FAQs
Who is eligible for the Parking Ticket Relief Program?
Any current University of Iowa Undergraduate student with an active HawkID and a parking ticket issued by UI Parking & Transportation is eligible to participate.
How much relief can I receive?
Students may receive relief for one UI-issued parking ticket per academic year, up to a maximum value determined by USG. The current maximum is $40 per student.
How do I sign up?
Complete the short registration form linked at the top of the page. Once submitted, you’ll receive an automatic email with instructions and a link to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
What volunteer opportunities count toward relief?
All volunteer hours must be completed through the official university service platform and must be with approved community or campus partners. All listings on the service platform are considered eligible for service opportunities.
How quickly do I need to complete my hours?
Volunteer hours must be completed within 30 days of the sign up form completion. Deadlines ensure tickets are processed before late fees or academic holds occur.
What happens if I don’t finish my hours on time?
If the deadline passes and your hours are not completed, you are responsible for paying the full cost of the ticket. If you believe you have a valid reason for an extension (such as no remaining shift availability), contact USG-President@uiowa.edu as soon as possible.
How will I know my ticket was cleared?
Once your volunteer hours are verified, you will receive an email confirming that your ticket has been processed and no further action is required.
Can I participate more than once?
No. Students may only receive relief for one ticket per academic year.
