UISG is currently seeking a dedicated undergraduate student to represent the LGBTQ+ community as a UISG Constituency Senator! This position primarily focuses on advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, as well as helping to create legislation that has positive impact on the community. This position also works very closely with the Queer Roundtable Leadership in community projects, events, awareness, and helps to develop better communications between UISG and the community. Other responsibilities include:

  • Attend and participate in Senate meetings every Tuesday at 7:00 PM and serve office hours in the UISG office.

  • Work on projects and write legislation to advocate for and represent the interests of their respective communities.

  • Perform regular outreach to their communities to ensure effective representation. Outreach could include, but is not limited to, holding town halls, hosting community discussions in the Cultural and LGBTQ Resource Centers, meeting with student organizations, etc.

  • Collaborate with students in their constituency and campus partners such as the Center for Diversity and Enrichment, Chief Diversity Office, and the Cultural and LGBTQ Resource Center managers and directors.
