USG is launching a new pilot program with Uber to assist students in traveling to the Eastern Iowa Airport This is a limited pilot program funded at $2,000. Through this pilot, 50 students will each receive two Uber vouchers, valued at $20 per ride ($40 total).
Because this is a pilot, student interest and usage will help determine whether this service continues or expands in future semesters -- so if this would be helpful to you, we strongly encourage you to participate.
Please keep in mind this initiative will run until all allocated funds have been used. Students are strongly encouraged to claim and schedule their Uber ride in a timely manner while supplies last.
How the pilot program works
What it covers
Rides between Iowa City and the Cedar Rapids Airport (CID) during winter break.
Voucher amount
Each participating student receives two Uber vouchers, $20 per ride.
Pickup/drop-off area
In Iowa City: within a 5-mile radius of campus
Near the airport: within 1 mile of the Cedar Rapids Airport
Program window
Vouchers can be used between December 12, 2025 and January 19, 2026.
The initiative runs until 11:59 p.m. on January 19, 2026 or until all funds are used, whichever comes first.
