Beginning Spring 2017, the Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) is seeking ten peer educators committed to promoting a campus culture that empowers Hawkeyes to become active bystanders and allies. The Certified Peer Prevention Education Trainer program is designed to promote social change through education on sexual assault and relationship violence, active bystander intervention, healthy relationships, and affirmative consent.
This is done through facilitating various in-person violence prevention workshops for UI students and empowering peers to become allies in shifting unhealthy social norms and eliminating violence in our community. Peer Prevention Education Trainers are eligible to receive a $1000 stipend per academic year.
Why you should apply: Upon completing the required training and certification process, Peer Prevention Trainers are eligible to receive a $500 stipend for each semester they facilitate, as well as gain valuable leadership skills to be effective agents of change on campus, while receiving a nationally recognized certification as a Certified Peer Educator (CPE). Additionally, the Peer Prevention Trainer program provides a meaningful way to connect with peers, get involved at WRAC, and demonstrate a commitment to providing a safer campus for current and future Hawkeyes.
